MAY 22nd : ARRIVALS
Upon arriving to the Oaxaca International Airport, you will be greeted by someone from our team and shown to Oaxaca City where you will have free time to explore during the afternoon, followed by a welcome cocktail on a terrace. Group dinner at Criollo restaurant followed by transportation to our private home in Mitla, Oaxaca where we will settle in for the night.
MAY 23rd : MITLA RUINS, HISTORY, INTRO TO HAMMOCK MAKING + FLORAL DESIGN
Meet with Santos, our local Mitla guide and hammock-making instructor. Santos will show us around the town of Mitla, including a visit to the Mitla ruins, where he will share knowledge about indigenous Zapotec history. Return to our home to begin working on the hammocks in the garden’s open-air palapa. And finally, spend the later afternoon with Raquel, learning about plants in Oaxaca and styling endemic flora. Family-style group dinner at home.
MAY 24th : HAMMOCK MAKING
Spend the morning making hammocks from home, under the palapa or in the desert garden. Free time in the afternoon to relax by the pool or enjoy an optional sunset horseback ride. Family-style dinner at home prepared by a talented local chef.
MAY 25th : NATURAL DYES + MACRAMÉ
Spend the morning in Teotitlan del Valle, a town known for their beautiful rug weavings. There, we’ll work with the first all women’s weaving cooperative in Teotitlan to dye our hammocks with natural dyes. Return to our garden home for the afternoon, where Emily Katz, founder of Modern Macramé, will guide the group in a practice of macramé. You can incorporate macramé onto your hammock or create a separate piece. Family-style dinner at home prepared by a talented local chef.
MAY 26th : MINERAL SPRINGS + CERAMICS
Spend the day absorbing Oaxaca's beauty! We'll take you to mineral springs that have formed a natural infinity pool in the mountains, to meet with a group of female ceramicists, possible visit to a mezcal farm (if time permits) followed by a final dinner celebration at our home.
MAY 27th : DEPARTURES
Group breakfast and final moments in Oaxaca, with private transportation back to the airport.
